Grief Support
Someone you love has died. It may be your partner, your parent, your child, your friend – and that person’s death is having a devastating effect on you. Nothing has prepared you for this.
You are not alone.
Grief doesn’t travel along a straight line and then fade away and disappear. Grief will come in waves – and sometimes it will feel like a tsunami. However, over time as you mourn and acknowledge your grief, the waves will soften. The waves will be fewer and farther between. At Crossroads Hospice Society, we provide support in learning how to ride these waves.
Labyrinth Healing Garden
Our Labyrinth Healing Garden in Pioneer Memorial Park is a unique tool in the extension of our grief and loss services, as well as a place for members of our community to find peace and serenity. Our labyrinth was created in partnership with the City of Port Moody and contributions of time, energy and talents by a host of supporters and volunteers. Labyrinths have been used for over thousands of years, and in many different cultures, as a form of walking meditation.
Before entering the garden, pause and take a deep breath. Concentrate on each step and trust that the path will lead into the center. Once in the center, take a moment to reflect on your journey.Perhaps take a seat on the bench beneath of Tree of Hearts. When you are ready, exit the labyrinth by retracing your steps and notice how you feel. Before leaving, consider visiting our Phone of the Wind, tucked a few steps from the labyrinth.
We invite you to enjoy this nature-scape for moments of meditation, reflection and healing.
