Donor Relations & Development Officer  (18-month maternity leave)

Position: Officer, Donor Relations and Development
Location:  Coquitlam - Head Office
Reports to: Executive Director
Job status: Full time, 1.0 FTE (75 hours bi-weekly); Temporary

WHO WE ARE:

Crossroads Hospice Society (CHS) is well recognized for its quality homelike hospice residence located in Port Moody, community palliative support (non-medical) in the home, free grief and loss support programs for youth (13 and up) and adults, and our charity thrift store located in Coquitlam, . Volunteers from the community are the heart of Crossroads and instrumental in helping us carry out our mission. For over 30 years, through the many programs and services we provide, we have made a significant difference in the lives of individuals living with a life-limiting illness and the families and friends who love them, and  those who are grieving the loss of a loved one. POSITION SUMMARY:.

The focus of this role is to generate annual revenue to support the overall mission of Crossroads Hospice Society (CHS) through building relationships and supporting local activities. This role will be focusing on corporate partnerships of $1,000+ and managing the cultivation and stewardship of donor relationships.

REQUIRED EDCUATION & EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years' community relations experience in a non-profit/fundraising environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in marketing, communications, business administration or a relevant discipline
  • Proven abilities in donor relations
  • Experience with not for profit governance and operating models an asset

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and oversee all donor relations activities, including servicing of existing donors and creating and executing new strategies to secure new donors and grow revenue in support of CHS
  • Act as liaison to all CHS charitable partners and private and corporate donors
  • Schedule and conduct community presentations, speeches, cheque presentations and hospice tours with prospects, donors and community partners, as required.
  • Research, identify and solicit new community partnerships..
  • Research, identify and apply for grants for increase in program and operation funding
  • Develop and maintain communication strategy to report back to donors, sponsors and other key stakeholders in the community
  • Help drive the overall success of signature events by securing sponsorships, executing live auction, and supporting the Special Events coordinator on overall event planning
  • Track and report relationship management activity on Sumac database and related platforms
  • Lead and coordinates Annual Giving Campaigns with the assistance of team members
  • Give talks and presentations to local organizations (i.e. schools, associations, and community partners) to increase awareness of and support for CHS activities.
  • Coordinate recognition and stewardship materials for community partners
  • Provide content for social media and community reports
  • Provide reports to Executive Director as requested
  • Work special events as required
  • Assume other related responsibilities, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

What you bring to the role:

  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills with the ability to relate professionally to all levels of staff, management, donors, suppliers, and partners while maintaining appropriate confidentiality; sense of humour
  • Strategic thinker, with excellent organizational and analytical skills
  • Public presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure
  • Strong attention to detail (specifically with spreadsheets, timelines and database management)
  • Demonstrated ability to be a collaborative team player and establish and maintain positive working relationships, both internally and externally
  • Ability to handle conflicting deadlines and prioritize
  • Flexibility to work events (evening, weekends & holidays)
  • Strong computer skills including excellent Microsoft Office skills. Proficiency in Sumac or a comparable database

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid BC Driver's license and access to a vehicle required to travel to meetings, events and presentations

Duration:  18 months with possibility of extension or permanent position

Job Description: Crossroads Hospice Society is currently seeking a Housekeeper (Casual) at Crossroads Inlet Centre Hospice in Port Moody, BC.

Candidates must have open availability and be able to work all shifts.

Start date:  Immediate opening; however, the position will remain open until filled.

Important note

**A satisfactory Criminal Record Check is a condition of employment. Proof of immunizations and Tuberculosis Screening Test results will be required.

General Description: To maintain cleanliness of 10 bed hospice residence and provide daily laundry services.

 

Major Areas of Responsibility:

  • Cleans and disinfects patient rooms, washrooms, nurse's station and common areas
  • Cleans empty rooms following a strict terminal clean protocol
  • Does facility and patient laundry
  • Collects and disposes trash and recycling
  • Maintain a safe environment at all times (e.g. use of wet floor signs)
  • Respond to emergency cleanups as required
  • Assesses immediate cleaning needs and takes appropriate action
  • Perform duties according to health and safety guidelines
  • Report all injuries and hazards to the supervisor immediately
  • Other reasonable requests from management
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient/family and personnel information

The successful candidate will have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • High School Diploma
  • Previous experience in the healthcare environment an asset
  • At least 1 yr. experience as a housekeeper would be ideal
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • WHMIS certification
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, teamwork and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and multitask
  • Ability to operate related equipment
  • Moderate physical fitness level required
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds
  • Understanding and acceptance of hospice philosophy
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient/family and personnel information as per Society and the Fraser Health Authority's confidentiality regulations
  • Perform duties in an efficient and effective manner while maintaining the spirit, dignity and individual needs of patients, families and guests

General Description: To maintain cook and provide meals for patients and maintain cleanliness of kitchen and related serving areas.

Employees in this position are singularly responsible for menu planning as required, ordering, food preparation, kitchen cleanliness and general housekeeping and supporting patients and their families

Duties

Typical duties include:

  • Prepares palliative patient meals, and serves meals as needed
  • Maintains required Health Standards in food preparations and cleanliness
  • Prepares special diets
  • Wash, dry, and put away all dishes, pots and pans used in preparation of meals and baking
  • Prepares weekly menus as needed
  • Orders food supplies and submits bills as needed. Checks for quality of food delivered.
  • Does all necessary baking
  • Prepares food for special occasions
  • Maintains an ongoing inventory of food supplies and household supplies which pertain to the kitchen
  • Cleans and sanitizes kitchen area, dishes, and equipment
  • Organization and cleanliness of pantries, food storage areas
  • Reports defective equipment
  • Performs other related work as required
  • Specified general housekeeping duties and all other duties as assigned

The successful candidate will have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • High School Diploma
  • Previous experience in the healthcare environment an asset
  • At least 1 yr. experience as a housekeeper would be ideal
